Let the PPC Advertising Work for You !

Many individuals are turning to PPC advertising to generate an income stream from their website, whether in the internet marketing community they offer direct mail lead generation packages, master resell rights or is just a personal website. PPC stands for pay per click advertising, one of the fastest growing segments of internet advertising and one of the most lucrative to website developers. One of the most prominent companies closely associated with PPC advertising is Google Adwords, which is emerging as a leader in the online advertising industry and adds hundreds of websites to its ranks on a weekly basis.

PPC advertising is not complicated to understand and is really a simple innovation. Advertisements are placed on web pages using relevant keywords in the content of the web page to determine which advertisements should be placed on which web pages. The advertiser pays a set price for each lead that is generated by using the link that is provided on the web page.

The PPC service is beneficial for both the advertisers and the web developers that have created the web sites that the advertisements are placed on. Advertisers like the service because they are only paying for the leads that are actually generated, not potential leads that may never visit their web site to see what services they have to offer. The developers of the web sites that the advertisements are placed on also enjoy the service because they are paid a modest commission for every lead that is generated from their web site.

There are several ways that you can use to make your pay per click account with Google Adwords, or any other PPC advertising company, work for you and make the most out of your investment. The easiest way to have your PPC campaign become an effective marketing tool is to pick the keywords that you choose to focus on for your campaign very carefully. The keywords that are chosen for your campaign have the ability to either make your campaign a success or destroy the chance of leads being generated from your efforts.

Many individuals choose to go with the most popular keywords on the internet that are relevant to the services that they are offering on their website as the focus of their PPC campaign, like for example: master resell rights, selling software, internet marketing, among others. While the most popular keywords tend to generate the most leads, they are also the most expensive to procure and, since the advertiser pays the set rate for each time that their ads are clicked, the monthly tally for the campaign can get to be quite expensive.

Web Promotion in Yahoo !

As SEOs and webmasters, we're always looking for ways to get the search engine spiders to crawl our sites, and the deeper, the better.

With constantly changing methods of ranking, its impossible to a set of steps to ensure that your site will appear in the first page of search results. But we can have some guidelines that, in general, search engine experts agree should help to boost your rankings:

Build a quality site: This may seem obvious, but a site that looks professional and offers a good experience for visitors will get more traffic, more referrals, and, in the end, higher rankings. Don't submit a work in progress or promote your site before it is truly ready to be seen. A quality site that offers a good experience for visitors will get more traffic, more referrals, and, in the end, higher rankings across the board.

Get big: Sites with more than 100 pages will attract more attention from search engines looking for sites with quality content. A hundred pages is not a magic number that you have to hit, but you should build unique pages for each product or article on your site.

Say something: Sites with frequently updated and new content rank higher in search engines typically. If, for example, your store sells aromatherapy bath soaps and candles, you could have an article about the benefits of various scents and the influence they have on well-being and attitude. You could also publish testimonials from your customers on the use of your products as you receive them. As such, your site will become a destination for readers who may then become buyers.

Use keywords not only as a tag: Choose noncompetitive keywords and include them in your page titles, descriptions, headings, and content. Search engines like when your keywords appear more than once on a page, but if they appear too many times, you could be penalized for trying to spam the search rankings. So keeping that in mind u should keep a close eye on keyword denisty. Try adding page titles and page descriptions to each of your pages.

When you pick your keywords, focus your efforts on finding niches where there is less competition for specific keywords and keyphrases and where you can deliver quality original content. For finding the best keywords for your site Google's “Adword Keyword Tool” and Yahoo's “Overture Tool”.

Exchange links: It's a well-known fact that search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN value the number of links you have to your site when deciding it's ranking. It's also been established that links which are obtained naturally or which are non-reciprocal in nature [where you don't have to link back] are considered more important and valuable than links which are exchanged among sites.

So with links being as important as they are and 'one-way' links coming at a premium, the question arises on how to go about obtaining these one-way links? That's where directory submissions help.

  1. Directory Submissions: Web directories serve as a catalog of websites and provide links to web users to various sites categorized under relevant topics. Its a perfect way to popularise your site in search engine Many of these directories accept websites for inclusion to their directory at no cost. So submitting your site to these directories under the relevant categories would get you a quality one-way link back to your site. This makes directory submissions one of the best and easiest means of obtaining these quality one-way inbound links.

  2. Article Submission - Building Links with content : Submission to various article directories with original content and resources box with link of your website is nice way to get traffic and better back links. One has to take care of these three things while submitting article to article sites

    1. Topic of article.
    2. True quality of article.
    3. Level of interest in the industry

  3. PR Submission and Social Bookmarking: Press releases were originally designed as a communication tool between company PR staff or public relations firms and the media. But now that online news sites such as Yahoo News and Google News contain such an abundance of press release content and RSS makes it easy to syndicate news, press releases can be effectively used as a direct to consumer communication tool .Not only are press releases an effective tool for distributing content to the media and consumers, they can easily be syndicated creating a excellent opportunity to attract incoming links.

Every time you add a bookmark to one of your pages in one of these sites you create a backlink. If you bookmark every piece of content you create in all of these sites you can build a lot back links over time. For the purposes of back links, you want to make sure that the bookmarking sites provide a real, do-follow link.

Get involved and get your name out there: Read and participate in popular forums that match your site's focus or interests. Many will let you include links to a web site in your forum signature. When the forum gets crawled by search engines, your link should get picked up as well. Don't put your link in postings on noncommercial message boards, however, if this is against the policy of the owner. You could do more harm than good. However, if you have a wealth of knowledge to share, you can become a leader that others will look to for answers and possibly referrals for products or services

Yahoo Crawler “SLURP” :

As Yahoo! primes itself to be the number one contender for market share after Google, websites that want to optimize for Yahoo must study how Yahoo ranks pages and how it indexes pages. The Yahoo web crawler SLURP should be studied; your site server logs should have recorded visits from various robots, including SLURP.

Yahoo SLURP evolved from Inktomi SLURP. The Yahoo SLURP robot is an upgrade from Inktomi’s SLURP. Yahoo used Inktomi’s search engine to replace Google, which used to take care of its search results. SLURP crawls websites, scans their contents and meta tags, and travels down the links contained on the page. It then brings back information for the search engine to index.

Yahoo crawler has some features unique to it, it also obeys the robots.txt command. This command is very important since it ensures that you have control over which pages the crawler searches and indexes. This lets you protect the sensitive pages which you need to keep secure, pages which contain information you would rather not have in the hands of hackers (who regularly try and infiltrate search engines databases), or pages which you don’t want indexed at all (for whatever reason).

Yahoo index Dynamic pages as well as Static pages:

This is the real advantage of SLURP. Most search engine crawlers don’t bother crawling and indexing dynamic pages (.php, .asp, .jsp) since their content is subject to rapid change, which makes the process of indexing useless. Yahoo SLURP, however, does daily crawls in order to refresh the content on their indexed dynamic pages. It also does bi-weekly crawls which enables the search engine to discover new content and add it to its website incrementally.

RSS Feeds helpful for indexing quickly by Yahoo :

We've all heard that a site with a lot of keyword rich content is a deciding factor to how well your site is ranked. This is particularly true with Yahoo. The problem, however, is that it can take a long time for you to create a lot of content, and even longer to get your site ranked. To make matters worse, I've heard recently that search engines (such as Yahoo) will actually rank you lower if you utilize search engine submission tools ... even their own! In other words, if your site can't be found by their spider, and you are forced to "submit" your site for it to be found, you get a lower ranking no matter how much content you have and no matter how relevant it is.

So it seems important to find some way for Yahoo's spider to find your site "on its own." That "way" is with RSS.

Now once your RSS file is completed (you can easily create one for your website by hand), you aren't done quite yet. What you then need to do is hop on over to your MyYahoo page (and if you don't have one, create one), and add your RSS file into your MyYahoo content.

As soon as you do that, you have added an entry to the top of Yahoo's spider queue. Your site will be indexed within 24 hours and will show up on search results within 72 hours. Further, the simple fact that the Yahoo spider found you the way it did will give you a higher ranking than if the spider finds you via "regular" mechanisms. In other words, Yahoo's search algorithm rates sites with RSS feeds higher than it does sites without them .

Regular Content Updation :

Yahoo likes to see more than just a lot of keyword rich content. It wants to see content that is constantly being added to and updated. It's one of the reasons that blogs rank so high. Most of them are updated with at least some small bit of new content two or even three times a day.

By constantly adding new and freshly updated pages to your site, the Google search results will reward your efforts. Perhaps even more than with Google, the Yahoo search engine values on page content. Freshly added created content will serve you very well with Yahoo where content is extremely important and fresh content even more so.

Use of Tags : Most website owners have placed meta tags on their sites. Meta tags carry some impact in the Yahoo! search placements. Since the meta tags are already in place, they provide some help with your Yahoo! optimization efforts.

The use of h1 headers on your site usually has positive results in the Yahoo! SERPs .Since the tags are part of your site’s on page content, they score high points with the Yahoo! Algorithm. If you have been highlighting and bolding some of your more important keywords on each page, Yahoo!, will give you solid credit for your bolded keywords. Bolded text appears to be a moderately important part of the Yahoo! algorithm.

Site Navigation and Sitemap :

Internal links and site maps are an important part of your primary yahoo optimization efforts. Whether to direct visitor traffic and page rank to the various internal pages, or to provide link anchor text help for the SERPs, your internal site links are important. Easy site navigation assists your visitors, whether human or computer robot spiders, to find your web pages. The yahoo algorithm values useful internal links that feature keyword anchor text.

What if you are not included in Yahoo's index?

Currently, Yahoo provides two options to get your web content indexed in its new search engine: by using a free URL submission box available to its registered users (you would need to login to Yahoo to access that feature), or by using Yahoo's paid inclusion program, Inktomi.

Yahoo claims that submitting a web link via the free URL submission box is considered only "suggestion" and not a guarantee that the page will be added to the index.

The only guaranteed way to have your content included is to use the Inktomi paid inclusion program. The pricing for Inktomi paid inclusion is as follows:

1st URL - $39
URLs 2-1000 - $25 each

Submitting Your Site to the Yahoo! Directory : Most webmasters strive to get their websites listed in the Open Directory Project (DMOZ), there are other important directories available to list your site. Some of the other important directories, offering both free and paid inclusion, are the Yahoo! Directory, Zeal/Looksmart, JoeAnt, GoGuides, and Gimpsy As with all directories, especially those like Yahoo! that offer paid inclusion, you have to consider your own budget and traffic requirements. The Yahoo! Directory http://dir.yahoo.com/ is crawled on a regular basis by the search engine spiders, including the Google spider.

Conclusion

So the recipe to send a site rocketing high in Yahoo SERPs is this: get plenty of backlinks with appropriate link text, and then inundate the recipient page with keywords in the body text, title, alt tags, and wherever possible. Most probably, you’d have the feather in you cap of having your website thrive at Yahoo!
